rebel + rewrite: Different is Dangerous
read radically + Rebel often
There’s a reason the people who create and uphold oppressive systems like to ban and burn books, to encourage illiteracy.
A well-read person is a dangerous person. Books and reading help us ask the questions we didn’t know to ask; to further develop our empathy and compassion; to learn about people, cultures, and worlds outside of our own small bubbles; to expand our imaginations so that we can dream up better futures. The world needs more dangerous readers.
Books I’m loving right now…
Let This Radicalize You by Kelly Hayes, Mariame Kaba
A History of Women in 101 Object by Annabelle Hirsch
Unlikeable Female Characters by Anna Bogutskaya
The Serviceberry by Robin Wall Kimmerer
And I’m super excited to read Blair Imani’s Read This to Get Smarter in April
